Tom Thumb, born Charles Sherwood Stratton in 1838, weighed over 9 pounds at birth, but never grew above three feet tall. He toured with P.T. Barnum's sideshow and married Lavinia Warren, another small person with whom he had a child. Here the couple's cherubic appearance closely mirrors that of their still androgynous baby.
